Many of us have heard by now about the previously slow iPhone syncing.  It was apparently updated with the new 2.1 software update.  But, I have recently been experiencing a slow sync on my iPhone when it came to email.  I was getting a “Syncing mail accounts with ePhone” (ePhone being the name of my iPhone).  I looked on the web with no luck.

That is until I came upon someone else having a problem with her iPhone also.  Her mail sync was also taking a long time.  The suggestions told her that it might be due to an IMAP email account.  She did not solve it with a change to POP3, but rather by syncing each of mail, contacts etc. one at a  time.

But, it got me thinking.  Perhaps my large IMAP folder was the problem.  So, I just let it run through the sync.  It worked.  I think this means that I need to sync more often or run MailSteward each day and prune old emails quicker.

One step foward and two steps back?  Perhaps not.
