  1. It’s sometimes hard to control the program you used to make the video.  We used iPhoto for the second one and we could not identify how to move a picutre’s sequence.
  2. The video file is quite large, especially if you want a good size for visitors to view.
  3. It takes a LONG TIME uploading.  Be prepared.

As part of the process, I need to respond to a generated email confirmation request. Unfortunately, it has taken a bit longer than expected. At first, this was supposed to take only a few moments. But, it turns out there are some problems with our mail server. So, the email took almost a day to get to me. I don’t fault Google, we just need to look over the mail server.

However, at the request of both parents and students, I am doing something different this year. We will still have class, but it will be completely voluntary.

How is this different from not having class? Well, I’m glad you asked.

I introduced the idea of using our summer months to work on the church website. We will meet and work on anything that needs to be done. I will bring my laptop, wireless mouse and keyboard and connect it to the projector. In turn, they will finally get their hands on my MacBook Pro and get a little hands on training in ministry. Some of the possible projects are:

  1. Setting up a YouTube channel
  2. Editing videos for the YouTube channel
  3. Getting photos from other church events to upload
  4. Suggestions on updating the website for possible visitors

From my perspective, its a win-win. The youth are happy and I get help working on the church website. I also get to set aside some time each week to update our content.

As I have posted before, right now, I am in the midst of organizing a Spring Fiesta carnival at my church.  As part of the organization, I am procuring all sorts of items I can use.  One of those is a milk can we purchased last week from someone on Craigslist.

So far, the FB (FaceBook) and MySA links have driven at least one person each to the church website.  In the case of MySA, these are persons in San Antonio who I do not know.  In the case of FB, these are people I know and would otherwise invite to the event.  The real test for me here is, does the social/personal aspect really make a difference?  I am willing to say that it does and would expect those people to at least consider if not attend the event.

We’ll see.
